You’ve Got This!

Mind

Welcome to the June edition of Tess’s Tidbits! First off, how are you doing? What a time we are living in! For the mind section of this month's blog/newsletter I had to get outside of my mind for a moment to really just let the creativity flow. Ever hear the saying, “sound mind, sound body”? It has a lot of truth to it. When we are feeling some of the lower vibration emotions, if we stay in those emotions for long periods of time, our bodies tend to become ill. After reading an article in Psychology Today, I thought I would share some of the 7 habits for a healthy mind. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-athletes-way/201302/7-habits-healthy-mind-in-healthy-body

  1. Be physically active. (20 minutes a day for most days of the week is the recommendation.)

  2. Be curious. (What is it you’ve always wanted to know more about?)

  3. Get creative. (This doesn’t just mean art projects, what inspires you?)

  4. Human Unity. (Spread kindness, help a neighbor or stranger, hang out with friends)

  5. Be spiritual. (Connect with something that is bigger than you.)

  6. Energy balance. (Everything has energy, balance what comes in and what goes out.)

  7. Simplicity. (It’s simple to live simply. Want and need less, be grateful.) (Alecia)

Body

One word, adaptogens! You may have heard of adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha, reishi, chaga or even lions mane. However, did you know that there are essential oils that also have adaptogenic properties? This means that they can stimulate or relax your nervous system depending upon what your body needs. The top 3 essential oils with adaptogenic properties are Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint. You can use these for both an energy boost or for some relaxation. While powerful when used alone you could always boost the effect by combining certain oils to achieve the desired effect. An example would be if you are looking to relax - take lavender and lemon with something soothing to the nervous system like chamomile. There are so many combinations and depending upon your needs, I can guarantee there is an oil for you. Help your body achieve homeostasis and stock up on your essential oils. https://www.doterra.com/US/en/site/zaom

On a side note, there are a lot of products out there now that use adaptogenics to help keep your body healthy. Check out this site that has an alternative to coffee! https://bit.ly/ZaomRasa

Spirit

This section will be hard for me this month. My spirit feels depleted. I know I am not alone and in knowing this I have reached out to friends and family to help find my balance again and again. One thing I have found to be most helpful, and it seems odd, but I will share it. A jar of joy! That’s right, a jar. I started with a drawing of a jar. In which I filled it with moments and memories, things I am grateful for and just things that make me smile. (Also, the very few things I know how to draw.) I then graduated to an actual jar. I painted it, decorated it with twine and flowers and began filling it with trinkets and souvenirs from any adventure. (Even just the ones around my yard.) Once it started filling up I noticed how I felt each time I looked at it. I added glitter and stars and put it on my shelf so I could see it every day. The more full the jar grows, the more full my spirit feels. :-) (Alecia)
